About
Welcome to New Ambala, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Luton at 221 Dunstable Rd. This establishment has been serving the community for over 45 years, earning a reputation that speaks volumes about its authenticity and quality. New Ambala specializes in traditional Pakistani cuisine, offering a delightful array of dishes that evoke nostalgia and comfort.
As soon as you step through the door, you are greeted by a warm atmosphere and attentive staff. The welcoming environment is complemented by the aroma of spices wafting through the air. Despite its dated decor, which adds a layer of charm, the dining area is clean and inviting.
One standout dish that has patrons raving is the Nihari, served with two freshly baked naans for just £9. As customer Prince Nawaz noted, this dish not only exceeds expectations but delivers a burst of genuine flavor that transports you to a grandmother’s kitchen. The food is served in authentic crockery, reminiscent of home-cooked meals, further enhancing the experience.
Other highlights include the chicken pilaf and mutton curry. Each dish comes perfectly spiced, demonstrating a balance between heat and flavor. Competition in the area may be fierce, but New Ambala stands out for its commitment to quality and tradition; this is echoed in reviews from satisfied customers like Mohib Abbas and Xaha Ather, who commend the consistent excellence of the curries and the nostalgic comfort of their favorite dishes.
The jewel of the experience is arguably the freshly made chai, which reflects the establishment's ethos of hospitality. It is a testament to New Ambala's dedication to creating memorable culinary experiences, as noted by the delighted customers in their glowing reviews.
Not to be overlooked, the desserts at New Ambala are equally impressive. With an outstanding selection of sweets, including fresh mithai and biscuits, it's no wonder patrons find themselves indulging in a sweet treat after their meal. The owner’s commitment to customer satisfaction and willingness to share recommendations fosters a familial atmosphere that keeps diners returning. As Shazbo reminisces about their 25-year patronage, it’s clear that New Ambala is not just a restaurant; it's a part of the community fabric.
While there’s room for improvement in the decor, the primary focus here is on the food and experience, which far outweigh any aesthetic concerns. New Ambala isn't just about eating; it’s about creating lasting memories through authentic Pakistani cuisine and exceptional service. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, make sure to stop by and experience the vibrant flavors and heartfelt hospitality. You may just find yourself returning time and again!
“ Right, so I walked past this place and their Nihari offer caught my eye . Nihari and 2 naans for 9. I thought in this cold weather that's a steal and worth trying. Usually the most tired looking places have the most authentic tastes. From my experience not every restaurant offers Nihari (like people do with Biryani which you find everywhere and it's so bad). So if they're advertising Nihari surely it couldn't be that bad. We step in, and the place is relatively quiet, really tired looking and it did make me question my choice. But even with the deco being incredibly dated, the table and seat was clean and I was still trying to keep an open mind and remember never judge a book by its cover. Immediately, the staff are all super approachable/welcoming and not the typical attitude to servicing customers like you expect from any other Asian place where it feels like you're an inconvenience and want to ask them for the bare minimum. The guys took my order with no issue, no need to repeat 3/4 times, just super helpful, super smooth ordering. With that, we later discovered the owner was also sat nearby and gave polite recommendations and exchange pleasantries. Anyways, the food came, piping hot, and much to our surprise the food SLAPPEEDDD!!!! It was so good. It was served in authentic crockery that you'd find at your grandmother's home. It felt like you were in her house and I actually unwind and relaxed. We learnt this shop had been here 45 years! That's saying something. The food was so good we even stayed for proper Pakistani chai and dessert. The shop has an abundance of sweets from mitahi to freshly baked biscuits where the owner gave us a couple to try for free. They made the chai fresh in a pot just for us. The whole experience was so enjoyable, all the guys are really nice and also great value for money. The food was delicious fresh snd nostalgic. I'll definitely be back. My only recommendation is to slowly fix the decor bro. But I'll be BACK! ”
“ Chai , chicken pilaf , maton curry were so delicious !!!! I’m sorry my upset and argue with my wife in your shop at that time. I recognize that We had to tell more concretely about potion. I never NEVER forget Your kindness and hospitality spirit . You made great memories for my trip. It was so amazing /remarkable eating experience and time Sure I shall return . とうも ありかとう!Doumo Arigatou !from Japan . ”
“ Delicious sweets and food. Curries were amazing and just enough spice and perfect flavour. Service was welcoming and efficient. And the atmosphere was great. ”
“ Been to this place for Puri Cholay since I was young and never disappoints, today we also had Pani Puri and chai and they were all lovely. Cozy atmosphere and good food ”
“ We have been going to New Ambala for way over 25 years and it’s always been consistently good. The quality of their sweets is outstanding. We have never had an issues regarding anything we have purchased from there. Shoutout to Tayyib for his outstanding customer service and for going out of his way to help us. ”
“ Discovered this place on Thursday whilst walking around Luton looking for something to eat. At first glance, the place doesn't look all that, sat down and was greeted by a friendly member of the staff. He took our order. Service was quick, staff were friendly and the food was great. I ordered a chicken biryani and was very please with my dish. The food was absolutely amazing. I will definitely be back to try out some of their other dishes. ”
“ Authentic original taste - Everything taste good. will recommend to all. ”
“ I have to say that the food was very amazing and freshly cooked to order. The staff were attentive, extremely reasonable prices and an overall lovely experience. The lamb seekh kebabs were 2 for 1.50 and they were yummy! I also had the chana halwa puri which we shared and for 3.99 excellent value for money. What I liked most about the curry was the fact that it was not oily and that you actually got the experience of the chickpeas rather than them swimming in oil. Definitely would recommend this place if you are looking for reasonably priced and tasty food. Will definitely come again soon. ”
